| Customer Reviews: Great Value on Super Binoculars! January 11, 2007 Bill Ashley (Baytown, TX USA) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
I did extensive research before I purchased a Canon 7x42A binocular. I checked out all the top brands, including Leitz and Steiner, but settled on the Canon due to it's very bright image (via a large exit pupil) and it's reputation for excellent optics.
I was not disappointed by the Canon's performance. Images are tack sharp, with great brightness and good contrast. Sure, you can get equal performance from the aforementioned "big-name" brands, but you'd have to spend hundreds more. For the money, this binocular simply cannot be beat.
Outstanding Value May 16, 2009 C. B. Smith (Mainz, Germany) The optics and build quality are top notch. These are made in Japan, not China like most others in this price range. They are waterproof, but not fogproof. They are rugged, but not shockproof. The 7X magnification may seem low, but I prefer it because there isn't as much shake and bounce from your body movements. 7X is sufficient for nature obversation or sporting events. The 42mm objective lens allows a lot of light in, and these binos are great in low light situations. The image is very clear. I wear eyeglasses and these have plenty of eye relief. Also, the large exit pupil is a major plus. All told, these binoculars are an excellent bargain for what you get. I highly recommend them. P.S. If you don't know a lot about binoculars, I also recommend doing a little research before you buy. You won't regret it.
Crystal Clear, High Quality August 12, 2009 K. Groh (Pennsylvania) I have always wanted a good pair of binoculars but never knew where to start looking. I was recently in a local camera store and the owner showed me this pair. I was amazed at the clarity.
I did a lot of research and found that this pair was a great investment and the quality of lens was equivalent to much higher priced models.
I believe these binoculars are soon to be sold out and will no longer be manufactured but perhaps other Canon models may be comparable.
These are fairly lightweight, have covers for the eyepieces (but not the other end, I'm not sure why). They have a sturdy case with its own strap and the binoculars have their own strap.
They are easy to adjust and give a clear, bright view. I wear glasses and although you can view them with glasses, I prefer to take them off (they are usually too dirty to see clearly anyway!).
I'm not a big techy, just the average bird watcher. I just wanted something better than the cheap binoculars we've had for years and these seemed to be a good investment at a fair price.
I have yet to use them in a lot of varied lights but so far, they are wonderful.
